The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a man allegedly involved in manufacturing and supplying handmade firearms in Bengaluru, based on leads obtained during the investigation of an earlier arms trafficking case. The accused, identified as Jenzir alias Paapad, was arrested in Singhana town of Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly operating an illegal firearm manufacturing unit from his house since 2012. According to the police, Jenzir was allegedly manufacturing handmade pistols and ammunition and supplying them to buyers in Bengaluru and other parts of the country.
He allegedly sold country-made weapons for ₹20,000 to local buyers and for ₹50,000 to buyers in other States. A breakthrough came during the investigation of an Arms Act case registered on February 25. In this case, CCB officials had arrested Imran and two others, seizing four.32 calibre pistols, 52 live cartridges, revolver components and three mobile phones in May this year. During an interrogation, Imran allegedly disclosed that the firearms had been procured from Jenzir.
Acting on this information, a CCB team travelled to Indore and, with the assistance of the local police, arrested the accused on July 13. A team of police raided Janzir’s house cum manufacturing unit and recovered one handmade pistol, four live cartridges, and materials and tools allegedly used for manufacturing country-made firearms from the accused’s possession. Investigators said Jenzir confessed to manufacturing illegal firearms for financial gain and supplying them to buyers across different States.
The accused was produced before the jurisdictional court and remanded in custody as further investigation continues to identify other members of the inter-State illegal arms supply network.
