Delhi Police and the Rapid Action Force initiated a massive crackdown on Congress leaders and workers protesting outside the Prime Minister's residence in the national capital. After allowing the agitation for three hours, security personnel began clearing the highly sensitive zone, dragging and detaining several protesters into buses. Prominent leaders, including Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav, were seen sitting on the ground, refusing to move as police surrounded them for detention.
Congress MP Ranjit Ranjan alleged that female parliamentarians were forcefully suppressed and manhandled during the eviction process. The protest, which also saw the presence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi, was held against the central government. Authorities stated that attempts to hold a dialogue with the senior opposition leadership failed, leading to the immediate detentions and the clearing of the area outside the Prime Minister's residence.
