A 25-year-old history-sheeter from Mumbai has been accused of brutally assaulting his wife for hours, confining her inside their home and later attacking her again at her parents’ house, police said. The accused, identified as Arbaaz Syed, has been arrested. According to the police, the assault began after a domestic dispute.

Syed allegedly beat his wife and then locked her inside the house and also forced her to remain in a ‘murga’ position for around four hours. Read Full Story During the ordeal, the woman somehow managed to escape and ran to her parents’ house to save herself. However, the accused allegedly followed her there and assaulted her again.

After the incident, the woman’s family informed the police. A police team reached the spot immediately and took Arbaaz Syed into custody. During the investigation, police found that Syed is a history-sheeter and that 19 serious criminal cases have been registered against him at different police stations. Based on the complaint lodged by his injured wife, the police have registered a case against him under several serious sections.

Further investigation into the incident and other criminal cases against him is underway, police added. Ends
