Rapid Read Revisiting India's campaign at the 2022 CWG (AFP) India heads into the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow hoping to build on another successful campaign, having finished fourth in the medal standings at Birmingham 2022. The Indian contingent delivered 61 medals in Birmingham — 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze — despite the absence of shooting, traditionally one of the country’s richest medal-producing sports. A Strong Finish Despite Shooting’s Absence India travelled to Birmingham with a 215-member contingent comprising 106 men and 104 women competing across 16 sports. It was the country’s 18th appearance at the Commonwealth Games. The team ended the Games fourth on the overall medal table, with wrestling and weightlifting once again leading the charge. Wrestling topped India’s medal tally with 12 medals, including six golds, while weightlifting contributed 10 medals, highlighted by three golds.
