The announcement came in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha to questions raised by Telangana MPs V Narender Reddy and M Anil Kumar Yadav. The minister said the timeline for completing the airport will depend largely on the Telangana government’s ability to complete land acquisition, obtain statutory clearances and carry out land-filling work.

He added that once the required land is handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Centre is prepared to fast-track construction and begin flight operations at the earliest. Other Proposed Airports The Centre also shared the status of other proposed airports in Telangana. Adilabad Airport: Discussions with the Ministry of Defence are still underway over a proposal to use the existing runway jointly for Indian Air Force and civil aviation operations. Bhadradri Kothagudem Airport: A pre-feasibility study conducted by the Airports Authority of India found that the sites inspected near Ramanapadu, Manchalapalli and Sujathanagar were not suitable for airport development due to technical and connectivity constraints. 56 UDAN Routes Operational The government also informed Parliament that 56 air routes have been operationalised from Telangana under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) regional connectivity scheme. If completed, the airport is expected to significantly improve connectivity for Warangal, Telangana’s second-largest city after Hyderabad. Improved air links are likely to benefit the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, the city’s growing IT sector, healthcare, education and tourism, while also helping attract fresh investments.

No Approval Yet For New Metro Projects Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the Centre has not approved any new Metro Rail projects in Telangana.
