An Aam Aadmi Party leader alleges that police used lathis and tear gas against students and young protesters, filed false cases, detained participants and failed to provide families with information about those missing after the demonstration. The party has announced a legal and medical assistance helpline, 8588833548, asking people to send messages rather than call if a student is missing, arrested, injured or facing a case. A legal team will assist affected families and arrange lawyers where required.
The leader says he will visit Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital to meet injured protesters and Parliament Police Station to seek two public lists: all protest-related FIRs and all detainees being held without an FIR. He rejects claims that the protest was or anti-national, links the demonstration to demands over paper leaks, and says his two children also joined the march and were present near tear gas deployment.
