A hunt is on to trace the accused Rapid Read News18 Kalyan Murder Case: A grisly murder has come to light in Kalyan, where the decomposed body of a 37-year-old man was found stuffed inside a sack and hidden in the bathroom of a rented apartment on Malang Road. Police suspect the accused, a woman believed to be the victim’s girlfriend, deliberately left the bathroom tap running for nearly 24 hours in an attempt to accelerate decomposition and destroy crucial forensic evidence. The chilling discovery was made after residents of Neelkanth Society complained of a strong foul smell emanating from one of the flats over the past few days. When officers from Manpada Police reached the apartment, they found it locked from the outside. After forcing open the door, they recovered a sack from the bathroom containing the highly decomposed body of the victim, identified as Hamidullah Islam (37).
Crime Branch officials and a forensic team were called to examine the scene. According to the preliminary investigation, the victim had been attacked with a sharp weapon before his body was stuffed into the sack and concealed inside the bathroom. Investigators believe the accused intentionally kept the tap running continuously so that the flowing water would hasten decomposition and wash away bloodstains and other forensic traces that could link her to the crime. Samples from the scene have been collected for forensic analysis. “A woman named Haseeba allegedly murdered her lover, whose body was later recovered from the bathroom of a rented apartment. After committing the crime, she sent a voice note to the landlord, confessing to the murder, informing him that the dead body had been kept in the bathroom and asking him to perform the victim’s last rites. The landlord immediately approached the police, following which the body was recovered from a sack, the body has been sent for postmortem. Haseeba and the deceased had been staying in the apartment for the past two-and-a-half months, while her husband had been living there for nearly two years. Further investigation is ongoing and we will arrest the main accused soon," said ACP Suhas Hemade, Dombivli.
The investigation took a dramatic turn after police learnt that the accused woman, identified as Haseeba, has allegedly fled to Kolkata after the murder. Before leaving, she is said to have sent a voice message to the flat owner, informing him that a body was lying inside the bathroom and that the water tap had been left on. The message prompted the owner to alert the police, ultimately leading to the recovery of the body. As per Sources, investigators are also exploring the possibility that the woman’s husband was involved in the crime and that the two fled together after the murder. Police are now working to establish the exact sequence of events, identify the motive, and determine whether more than one person was involved in the killing. Manpada Police have registered a case of murder and launched a search for the accused. A police team has already left for Kolkata to trace and arrest her, while investigators continue to piece together the motive behind the killing and establish the sequence of events leading up to the murder.
