Yeh Awarapan: Arijit Singh, Emraan Hashmi back to relive love and loss in new song

The makers of Awarapan 2 have released Yeh Awarapan, a romantic track sung by singer Arijit Singh that places actor Emraan Hashmi at the centre of a grief-filled music video. Running for over three minutes, the song shows the 47-year-old actor's character, Shivam Pandit, as lost, heartbroken and searching for meaning. Yeh Awarapan is the second song to be released from the film after Ve Junoon. It has been composed by Amaal Malik and written by Rashmi-Virag. Read Full Story The video follows Emraan's character driving through deserted roads, wandering across barren landscapes, sitting alone in dimly lit spaces, feeding pigeons, visiting his lover's grave and drowning his pain in alcohol. He appears consumed by grief and weighed down by memories that do not fade.
These moments are interspersed with flashes of happier days with his beloved, bringing back the love that once gave his life meaning. As the song moves forward, sorrow gives way to rage. The video ends with an injured and heavily intoxicated Emraan lighting a cigarette before taking on his enemies in a rain-soaked fight. Producer Vishesh Bhatt, who has long been associated with the franchise, shaped the film's music to reflect Shivam Pandit's emotional world. Arijit Singh's comeback to playback singing The release is notable because the 39-year-old singer had announced on January 27 that he was stepping away from playback singing and would not take up new assignments. With Yeh Awarapan, he returns with a song that is being projected as a key emotional anchor in Awarapan 2.
Singh had earlier explained his decision in a series of posts on his private X account. He said the move was not because of a single reason and that he had been thinking about it for some time. He wrote, "There isn't just one reason for this; there are multiple factors, and I have been contemplating this for quite some time. Ultimately, I have mustered the necessary courage (sic)." At the same time, Singh had made it clear that he was not quitting music altogether. His most recent playback releases were Battle of Galwan's Maatrubhumi, O Romeo's Ishq Ka Fever, and Bhooth Bangla's Tu Hi Disda. Yeh Awarapan also marks another collaboration between Singh and Vishesh Films.
The banner had first backed the singer with Phir Mohabbat from Murder 2. Their association later continued with Muskurane from CityLights, the Khamoshiyan title track, the Hamari Adhuri Kahani title track and Pal from Jalebi. More about the upcoming film Along with Emraan, Awarapan 2 stars Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar. The film is produced by Vishesh Bhatt, directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui. It is scheduled to release in theatres on August 14. Ends
