Read Full Story European prices hint at expensive foldables Although Samsung has kept official pricing under wraps, early retailer listings from Europe have given the clearest indication yet that this year's foldables won't come cheap. The leaked prices first surfaced after a Portuguese online store accidentally published product pages ahead of launch. Because electronics sold in Portugal include a 23 percent VAT, the figures are expected to be higher than what buyers in several other European countries would pay. The listings suggest Samsung will continue offering the Galaxy Z Flip 8 in two storage options — 256GB and 512GB.

Those variants are reportedly expected to cost about EUR 1,349 (roughly Rs 1.48 lakh) and EUR 1,549 (around Rs 1.71 lakh). For buyers considering Samsung's book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to come in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB versions. The leaked prices point to a starting price of EUR 2,069 (around Rs 2.28 lakh), climbing to EUR 2,269 (roughly Rs 2.50 lakh) for the 512GB model and EUR 2,669 (around Rs 2.94 lakh) for the top-end 1TB variant. Samsung is also rumoured to be preparing an Ultra version of the Fold for the first time. If the leaked retailer listing turns out to be accurate, buyers may have to spend roughly EUR 200 (around Rs 22,000) more than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, regardless of the storage configuration they choose. Should India expect a price hike? There is no official word on India pricing yet, but the latest leak suggests that Samsung's next foldables could become more expensive here as well. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 debuted in India at Rs 1,74,999 for the base 12GB + 256GB variant.

With the new European pricing pointing towards higher costs globally, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is now expected to launch closer to the Rs 2 lakh mark in India. That said, European prices are traditionally much higher than Indian prices because of taxes, so the leaked figures should not be taken as an indication of the exact India launch price. Even so, a price increase would not come as a surprise to some. Samsung has recently raised prices across a few product categories in India. Earlier this month, the company reportedly increased the prices of multiple Galaxy tablets, including premium models in the Galaxy Tab S series. It also revised the prices of the recently launched Galaxy M47 just days after its debut, with some variants becoming significantly more expensive. Samsung is also not alone. Brands such as Apple, OnePlus, Nothing and Realme have increased smartphone prices in recent months amid rising component costs, making it less likely that Samsung will keep the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at the same price as last year's model.
