In the midst of allegations of embezzlement of donations made to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will hold a meeting on July 22. According to the agenda the Trust’s general secretary Krishna Mohan circulated in a letter to trustees, the meeting will take the matter of confirmation of the proceedings of its July 6 meeting.
This apart, a special meeting has been scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Ram Temple complex, followed by the regular Trust meeting at 4 p.m. at Maniram Chawni, the premises of Trust president Nritya Gopal Das. The trustees are likely to discuss the reconstitution of various committees in accordance with the Trust’s rules and deliberate on the final report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the donation theft, if it becomes available by then.
On July 6, the Trust held a meeting under the chairmanship of Mr. Dasand accepted the resignations of its general secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra in the wake of the allegations of embezzlement of donations. It has appointed Krishna Mohan as the acting general secretary, to ensure smooth conduct of operations till a full-fledged appointment is made.
Eight accused have been arrested in the embezzlement case. They were produced before the court of Additional District Judge Pratibha Narayan through video conferencing, which extended their judicial custody till July 27.
