This India First special broadcast examines clashes during a Cockroach Janata Party protest near Parliament in New Delhi. Videos show a police officer being surrounded, dragged to the ground and assaulted, along with stone pelting directed at Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces personnel. The transcript states that more than 50 security personnel were injured, over 70 people were detained for questioning, vehicles were damaged and public and private property was vandalised.
Police are compiling CCTV footage, mobile recordings and viral videos, identifying those involved and preparing multiple First Information Reports. Tear gas and limited force were used as crowds moved towards Parliament. The government also opened talks with protest representatives, who submitted demands concerning the hospitalised activist, the Union Education Minister and compensation for families of NEET aspirants. The broadcast also covers a Delhi High Court hearing over the activist’s hospital treatment.
