Thousands of students and supporters marched through central Delhi to protest alleged irregularities in the NEET medical entrance examination, demanding the education minister’s resignation. The demonstration began at Jantar Mantar and moved toward Parliament. Protesters breached barricades and blocked roads across Raisina Road, Rail Bhavan, Udyog Bhavan, and Connaught Place. Delhi Police deployed tear gas, smoke canisters, and baton charges to disperse the crowds. Confrontations escalated as some protesters pelted stones, attacked police personnel, and attempted to damage a vehicle near Rajiv Chowk and the Hanuman temple.
Authorities reported that over 50 police personnel sustained injuries and approximately 70 individuals were detained. Opposition leaders criticized the police response, while the government maintained it would not yield to pressure. The situation transitioned from street demonstrations to negotiations after a protest delegation met with government officials to present their demands. Meanwhile, a fasting activist announced the continuation of his strike until youth representatives are permitted to meet parliamentarians.
