The State government has issued orders hiking the per-kg support price of rubber from ₹200 to ₹250. The revised price will apply to bills from July 3, the date of the Finance department order. Farmers and rubber producer organisations had repeatedly urged the State government to hike the support price as production costs had increased. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, who handles the Finance portfolio, had announced in the Revised Budget for 2026-27 presented on June 19 that the support price of rubber under the ‘Rubber Production Incentive Scheme’ introduced to help rubber farmers in light of the dwindling prices would be increased to ₹250.
