Delhi Police has issued an advisory urging citizens and protesters to maintain peace and avoid spreading misinformation on social media platforms. The appeal comes after demonstrators, who gathered at Jantar Mantar following the detention of Sonam Wangchuk, moved towards sensitive areas like the Parliament Police Station, Rail Bhawan, and Shastri Bhawan during the Monsoon Session. According to the police, prohibitory orders are in place across New Delhi.
Authorities reported incidents of stone pelting by some protesters, prompting the police to use tear gas shells to disperse the crowd in the Connaught Place area. The police have requested the demonstrators to return to Jantar Mantar, the designated site for protests, and warned against anti-social elements taking advantage of the situation. The developments follow a sudden change in the Delhi Police Commissioner just hours before Wangchuk was picked up from the protest site.
