A protest in central Delhi has led to a gridlock, with key arterial roads linking Connaught Place to Jantar Mantar blocked by students, protesters, and party cadres. After protesters ignored warnings to clear the outer circle of Connaught Place, police lobbed multiple tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
The area has been described as a war zone, with police carrying out detentions to clear the blockades. Plumes of smoke from the tear gas shells were seen rising as protesters continued to gather in large numbers, screaming from the site while police attempted to disperse them.
