Protests over the NEET paper leak have turned parts of central Delhi into a war zone of sorts, with demonstrators blocking arterial roads around Connaught Place and Jantar Mantar. Security personnel deployed teargas shells multiple times to disperse the crowds causing gridlocks across the national capital. While some areas have been cleared, the standoff continues in several pockets. Amid the ongoing unrest, backdoor negotiations have commenced between the ruling party and representatives of the protesting political movement.
The demonstrators have presented three primary demands to the government. These include the non-negotiable resignation of the Union Education Minister, financial compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the examination paper leak, and a video appeal for calm from a prominent activist. As authorities attempt to restore normalcy and clear the remaining blocked routes, all eyes remain on the government's response to the demands put forth by the protesting groups.
