The monsoon session of Parliament commenced with disruptions as the opposition and the government disagreed over legislative priorities and economic concerns. The Prime Minister countered claims made by the Leader of the Opposition regarding an impending economic crisis, emphasizing that logical and factual debates do not require a storm. The opposition leader had previously asserted that a major financial shock would impact the youth, farmers, and small business owners, alleging that current economic structures would collapse.
In response, the Prime Minister advocated for a productive session focused on facts and logic. Meanwhile, opposition members indicated that no parliamentary business would be transacted until their specific issues were addressed, leading to continuous sloganeering in the House. With eight bills scheduled, the initial days of the session are expected to see further disruptions until a consensus is reached between the ruling government and the opposition.
