Rapid Read Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has been holding a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. (Source: PTI) Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has written to the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, requesting permission to leave the hospital temporarily so he can participate in the “Sansad Chalo" march. In a handwritten letter on Monday, Wangchuk said he was feeling well and that his medical condition had improved.
“This is to state that I am feeling very fine today, and my health parameters are also showing as quite normal. Hence, I request you to kindly allow me to leave the hospital, even if temporarily, so that I can join the March to the Parliament – Sansad Chalo this morning," he wrote. He concluded the letter by saying, “I shall be most grateful." Wangchuk was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday while continuing his indefinite hunger strike. He has maintained that he will end his fast only if the Centre accepts responsibility for recent failures in the education system, including examination paper leaks, or if Members of Parliament assure him that the issue of education accountability will be raised during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
