(IANS) The Delhi Police on Monday denied reports claiming that protesters were subjected to violence or detained at Jantar Mantar, saying the demonstration at the site was being handled professionally. In a post on X, the Delhi Police said, “Some segments from the media have mentioned sporadic use of violence/detentions at Jantar Mantar by the Delhi Police." “It is informed that no such incident has taken place and the protest is being handled professionally. All are requested not to fall prey to any rumour/ misgivings, and to assist Delhi Police in maintaining peace and public order at and around the site," it added.

The statement came after reports and claims circulated on social media alleging clashes and detentions during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march. The authorities have maintained that protests at designated locations are being managed in accordance with security protocols while ensuring public order. Delhi HC To Hear Wangchuk’s Wife’s Plea The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear an appeal filed by Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Angmo, challenging a single-bench order concerning the issue of his hospitalisation. Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal mentioned the matter before a division bench headed by Chief Justice D K Upadhyay.
The court will hear the appeal at 3 pm on Monday. Meanwhile, Wangchuk on Monday said he would end his hunger strike only if the Centre takes responsibility for recent shortcomings in the education system, including exam paper leaks, or if Members of Parliament assure him that the issue of accountability in education will be raised during the Monsoon Session. In a post on X on the first day of the Parliament session, Wangchuk laid out three conditions for ending his fast, which he has continued despite being admitted to Safdarjung Hospital under medical observation. Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike demanding accountability over alleged nationwide examination irregularities, including the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, and has called for reforms in the education system.
