NEET Re-Test Row: Fresh controversy has erupted over the NEET UG 2026 re-test results after several candidates alleged discrepancies in their scores and OMR sheets, prompting renewed questions over the transparency of the Testing Agency’s (NTA) evaluation process. Among those raising concerns is Kanpur-based aspirant Arya Singh, who claimed her score on the NTA portal changed from 540 to 167 within hours of the result declaration despite her OMR sheet indicating she should have secured 609 marks. Kanpur Student Claims Score Changed Twice Arya Singh alleged that the OMR sheet initially uploaded by the NTA on July 13 contained an incorrect sequence of questions. After matching her responses, she calculated her expected score to be 609 marks and filed an objection through the NTA’s challenge portal. According to her, the NTA later uploaded a revised OMR sheet with the corrected question order. However, she claimed the revised document still reflected incorrect marks. Arya further alleged that when the NEET UG 2026 re-test results were declared on the night of July 16, her score initially appeared as 540 on the NTA portal before dropping to 167 around two hours later.
The portal currently displays 167 marks along with an All India Rank of 12,52,036. She has submitted complaints to the NTA and the Ministry of Education, attaching screenshots, OMR sheets and other documents, and has said she will approach higher authorities if the issue is not resolved. Similar Allegations Surface From Other Candidates Similar allegations have also emerged from several candidates who have sought a thorough investigation into the matter. Ayodhya’s Aarushi Patel has also claimed that her score was reduced after the results were published. Meanwhile, another aspirant, Ibtesham Nasar, alleged in a viral post on X that the OMR sheet uploaded by the NTA did not belong to her and contained a completely different pattern of marked responses. She claimed she expected around 595 marks but was awarded around 60. According to the candidate, she challenged multiple responses after paying nearly ₹27,800 in challenge fees and has sought verification of her original physical OMR sheet. Several parents have also taken to social media alleging discrepancies between their children’s OMR sheets and the final scores. NTA Rejects Fake Claims The NTA has dismissed allegations of widespread OMR mi ups, stating that many answer sheets circulating on social media are digitally altered or AI-generated. “NTA is closely monitoring and scrutinizing all complaints. In the wake of many OMR sheets submitted for scrutiny turning out to be fake/AI generated, students and parents are advised to submit only original OMRs for scrutiny.
