In Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur, next to the Panna Tiger Reserve, tribal women are holding a Chita Satyagraha on a tributary of the Ken River. Alongside them, men are participating in a representational hanging protest. The villagers, Adivasis, and women are protesting against unfair compensation for land being acquired for the Ken-Betwa linking project.
The project involves acquiring nine thousand hectares of land, including nine percent of the Panna Tiger Reserve Forest, to transfer water from the Ken River to the Betwa River. Protesters state their families have not received proper compensation. Additionally, an activist has been on a fast until death since July 6, demanding fair compensation for the affected villagers.
