Russia has launched one of its largest missile attacks on Kyiv since the start of the war, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Ukraine says Russia fired at least 41 missiles at the capital overnight, with air defences intercepting fewer than half.
At least one person was killed in Kyiv after strikes damaged residential buildings, a metro station and sparked fires across the city. Three more people were killed in a separate Russian attack on Kharkiv.
Residents sheltering in Kyiv's metro described scenes of panic as explosions rocked the capital. Zelenskyy said strengthening Ukraine's air defences against ballistic missiles remains a top priority as Russian attacks intensify. Al Jazeera's Audrey MacAlpine reports from Kyiv.
