THE GRIEVANCES RAISED BY STUDENTS During his walkthrough of the 10-storey building, students directly approached the Chief Minister to flag severe mismanagement. Students revealed that meals frequently contained worms and insects, and kitchen staff routinely ignored safety protocols by cooking without gloves or hairnets.

Furthermore, recreational areas like the volleyball court remained locked. Rigid closing hours forced students returning late from part-time jobs or competitive exam coaching (UPSC/TNPSC) to sleep outside the gates, exposing them to local miscreants. Hostel supervisors and watchmen reportedly used abusive language toward students from economically weaker sections. GOVERNMENT ACTION Accompanied by Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu, Chief Minister Vijay bypassed standard bureaucratic protocol to record each grievance firsthand.
The Chief Minister demanded immediate explanations from the department heads and hostel administration. He directed officials to execute an immediate cleanup, upgrade basic amenities, and fix the security camera network.
