Just four months after walking out of jail, a 39-year-old man allegedly went back to the same trade, setting up an illegal Alprazolam manufacturing unit in a poultry farm in Mahabubnagar, only to be caught by the Telangana EAGLE Force. Malela Jaya Prakash Goud, who had earlier been arrested for allegedly running a similar unit in Bowenpally, was among four persons arrested after the Hyderabad Narcotics Police Station team raided the Lakshmi Narasimha Poultry Farm on the outskirts of Annasagar village in Boothpur mandal on Sunday.
Police seized 1.15 kg of Alprazolam worth ₹20.30 lakh and dismantled the unit, recovering manufacturing equipment and chemicals. Goud was arrested in September 2025 in connection with a case involving an Alprazolam manufacturing unit at Medha High School in Bowenpally and remained in judicial custody until March 16 this year. After his release, he allegedly violated weekly reporting conditions and revived the network, police said.
The narcotics team had placed him under surveillance following suspicion and the operation eventually led investigators to the poultry farm. Police said Chedurpalli Krishnaiah Goud, 50, who had allegedly absconded in the earlier case, helped set up the new unit.
Gaddagidi Balanjaneyulu, 51, and poultry farm landowner Boya Narasimhulu, 58, were also arrested. Investigators suspect that the Alprazolam manufactured at the unit was being supplied to local dealers for adulterating toddy, potentially putting consumers in Mahabubnagar and neighbouring districts at risk.
