The incident came to light after the family’s domestic help arrived at the house but found the door locked from inside. When repeated attempts to contact him failed, she informed the family and the Govind Nagar police. Officers later broke open the door and found the young man hanging from a ceiling fan. ‘Sorry Papa’: Note Speaks Of Repeated Setbacks The officials also recovered a brief handwritten note from the room, in which the deceased, Anand Kumar, repeatedly apologised to his father.
According to police, the note read: “Sorry Papa, I tried for a govt job 50 times, but I could not succeed. Please forgive me," as per a report by Times Of India. According to officials cited by Times Of India, the word “sorry" appeared several times in the note, reflecting the emotional distress he had been experiencing. Gold Medallist Who Dreamt Of A Government Job The deceased, Anand Kumar, reportedly completed his BTech in Electrical Engineering in 2024 from a reputed engineering college in Kanpur. He had secured the third rank in Uttar Pradesh and was awarded a gold medal by Governor Anandiben Patel during the institute’s convocation on August 13, 2024. After graduation, Anand joined a private company but continued preparing for competitive examinations, hoping to secure a government job. Police said he remained under pressure as he was unable to clear the examinations despite making nearly 50 attempts. Family Was Away In Bihar At the time of the incident, Anand’s father, Rajkumar, and grandfather were in Bihar to finalise the marriage of Anand’s elder brother.
Rajkumar, a retired employee of Lohiya Private Limited and a native of Buxar district, had left for Bihar five days earlier, as per a report by the outlet. According to the family, Anand was initially expected to accompany them but decided to stay back shortly before the trip. His siblings are government school teachers in Bihar. Police Begin Investigation Govind Nagar SHO Ashok Kumar Dubey stated that preliminary findings suggest Anand may have been battling depression linked to repeated failures in government recruitment examinations, as per the report. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, while further investigation is underway.
