A 24-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and murdered by her boyfriend in Odisha, police said on Sunday. The victim, identified as Sarita Sa, was a resident of Kusumi Mahulaguda village in Sambalpur district and worked at a beauty parlour in Kuchinda town. Police said she was in a relationship with the accused, 27-year-old Anil Pruseth, a resident of Kundaposi village.
According to police, Sa went missing on Thursday, following which her family lodged a complaint accusing Pruseth of abducting and killing her. Read Full Story Police said they detained Pruseth based on the complaint and that he allegedly confessed to strangling and killing Sa during questioning. Acting on information provided by him, police recovered the victim's body from near the foothills of Badrama forest on Saturday.
Police also recovered a 'chunri' allegedly used in the crime based on the accused's disclosure. Another person, identified as Ashok Kisan from Sundargarh district, was detained for allegedly transporting the accused and the victim to the spot in his car. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Police said the exact cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report is received. Ends
