The Women Cancer Summit 2026 was held in Mysuru on Sunday (July 19), bringing together oncologists, gynaecologists and healthcare professionals from across Karnataka. Organised by ClearMedi Healthcare in association with the Karnataka State Obstetrics and Gynecology Association, Karnataka College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mysore Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (MOGS), and Mysore Association of Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Clinics and Diagnostic Centres, the summit highlighted the importance of early detection, multidisciplinary treatment and the growing role of AI in improving outcomes for women diagnosed with cancer.
The conference served as a platform for experts to discuss the latest developments in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast, cervical, ovarian and endometrial cancers. Deliberations also focused on strengthening collaboration between gynaecologists, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and surgeons to provide comprehensive cancer care. Special emphasis was laid on expanding quality oncology services to women in Mysuru, Mandya, Kodagu, Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Srinivas K.G., director of Oncology Services and senior consultant, ClearMedi Healthcare Hospitals, said cancer treatment has evolved into a highly specialised multidisciplinary field where coordinated efforts by specialists enable personalised treatment for every patient.
He stressed that early diagnosis, evidence-based treatment and timely intervention remain the cornerstones of improving survival rates and quality of life. A. Sonia Mandappa, president of MOGS and senior consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, emphasised on the need to increase awareness about preventive healthcare and regular screening for cervical, breast and endometrial cancers, apart from timely referral. Delivering the keynote address, Raxith Sringeri, senior consultant surgical oncologist and robotic surgeon, explained how AI and robot-assisted surgery are transforming oncology by improving surgical precision, supporting clinical decision-making and enhancing patient outcomes.
He said AI would complement the expertise of surgeons rather than replace them. The summit featured scientific sessions by eminent specialists on emerging therapies, surgical innovations, multidisciplinary cancer management and the latest clinical guidelines.
