The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) conducted surprise inspections in the Alwal area of Hyderabad on Sunday as part of its ongoing drive against illegal medical practice, identifying four establishments where individuals were allegedly practising allopathy medicine without required qualifications, registration or legal authorisation. The inspection was carried out by TGMC members Gundagani Srinivas and Imran.
Based on the findings, the council said it would initiate legal action against those found violating provisions of the Medical Commission (NMC) Act and the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (TMPR) Act. According to the TGMC, those identified during the inspections were Gopu Srinivas of Shankara Shashanka Clinic, who was practising modern medicine without valid registration and had not qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) examination; G.
Janaki Ramulu of Sri Sai Poly Clinic, a physiotherapist who was allegedly issuing prescriptions for modern medicine beyond the scope of authorised practice; Sudarshan of Komal Clinic, who was allegedly providing allopathy services without the required qualifications and authorisation; and Christopher of Shebha Clinic, who was also allegedly practising modern medicine without the requisite medical qualifications.
TGMC members alleged that the unauthorised practitioners were administering steroids, painkillers, antibiotic injections and other prescription medicines indiscriminately, posing a serious threat to public health. It warned that such practices could result in kidney damage, contribute to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and endanger patients’ lives.
