A Shiv Sena corporator has surrendered and been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the Kalyan Court. This development comes a day after the Bombay High Court cancelled his bail in the Dombivli Hospital assault case. The High Court took suo motu cognizance of the matter after the accused was granted bail by the Thane Court despite facing multiple cases.
The assault on medical staff, captured on CCTV, had triggered widespread protests by doctors across Maharashtra. The High Court had directed the corporator to surrender, warning that his properties would be seized if he failed to comply. Following the court order, the politician surrendered at a local police station.
