Ahead of the Monsoon Session, Kiren Rijiju has convened an all-party meeting in Delhi to discuss key legislative priorities. The government aims to build consensus on its agenda, which includes the FCRA and Income Tax amendment bills, alongside the Delimitation Bill. The ruling coalition is confident about passing the Delimitation Bill to enable the Women's Reservation Bill by 2029, bolstered by the support of 20 rebel TMC MPs, the NCP led by Sharad Pawar, and the DMK's exit from the INDIA bloc.
Conversely, the opposition plans to corner the government on several contentious issues. Key topics on their agenda include activist Sonam Wangchuk's detention and removal from his protest site at Jantar Mantar yesterday, the alleged Ayodhya Ram temple donation theft, and the mandatory nationwide rollout of E20 fuel. Furthermore, opposition leaders will demand debates on the NEET paper leak, inflation, unemployment, law and order, and alleged encroachments on federalism and state rights.
