Rapid Read Officials believe the idol could provide important clues about the circumstances leading up to the incident and have launched a search operation to recover it. The investigation into the death of a software engineer in Hyderabad took an unusual turn, with authorities now searching for a temple idol that the woman allegedly carried into a pond moments before her death. The deceased, identified as Tejaswini, is suspected to have died by suicide. However, police say several aspects of the case remain unclear, prompting a detailed investigation into her final movements and state of mind. The police said Tejaswini allegedly removed her clothes, entered a nearby temple and picked up an idol of Goddess Ammavaru before walking to a pond in the area.
She then allegedly jumped into the water. While her body was later recovered, the idol remains missing. Officials believe the idol could provide important clues about the circumstances leading up to the incident and have launched a search operation to recover it. The Disaster Response Force (DRF) deployed boats and personnel to scan the pond, with search teams attempting to locate the missing idol, which investigators consider a potentially significant piece of evidence. As part of the probe, police questioned Tejaswini’s mother Aruna and are examining what they describe as an alleged death declaration left behind by the software engineer. Investigators are also reviewing her financial records, phone activity and movements in the days preceding her death. The inquiry has uncovered additional details that authorities are now scrutinising. Police found that Tejaswini had been staying in a rented flat where she was allegedly paying around Rs 3,500 per day, amounting to nearly Rs 1 lakh per month in rent.
Investigators also discovered that the top two floors of the building were allegedly being operated in the manner of a lodge. Authorities are examining whether the property or its occupants have any connection to the events leading up to her death. Police have not announced any conclusions regarding the motive behind Tejaswini’s actions. Officers are currently analysing CCTV footage, witness accounts and forensic evidence to establish a clear timeline of events. While preliminary findings indicate that the software engineer may have died by suicide, officials stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and that all angles are being examined.
