The United States has launched military strikes in southern Iran, targeting areas near Sirik, Hajirabad, Bandar Abbas, and Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes hit civilian infrastructure, including seven bridges, roads, a railway terminal, and a desalination plant. In response, Iranian forces carried out strikes on United States bases and civilian infrastructure in Kuwait, hitting a desalination plant and injuring security forces.
Iran also targeted locations in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Syria. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it has no obligation to follow the memorandum of understanding signed in June, declaring the ceasefire over. Mediators, including Qatar, are attempting to prevent further escalation as the conflict intensifies across West Asia.
