According to family members, Dilendra Tanti and Purushottam Tanti allegedly attempted suicide by hanging themselves, while Gauri Devi and Ranjit Tanti allegedly consumed poison.

Ranjit Tanti and Purushottam Kumar are undergoing treatment at a private clinic, with one of them stated to be in critical condition. Relatives said everything had been normal in the family before a sudden dispute broke out, following which four members of the household took the drastic step. However, they did not specify the exact reason behind the dispute.
The Station House Officer of Chandi police station said that, according to information available so far, three people had attempted suicide, of whom two died while the third is undergoing treatment. Family members also said there had been previous incidents of physical altercations between the father and son. Police have taken custody of the bodies of Dilendra Tanti and Gauri Devi and sent them to Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.
