The emphatic win gave U Mumba the biggest winning margin in the competition’s five-match format while setting a new record with 11 consecutive game wins as well, sending the defending champions to the top of the standings. Lilian Bardet and Anusha Kutumbale handed U Mumba a commanding 6-0 lead before the in-form mixed doubles duo of Manush Shah and Anna Hursey completed another clean sweep to seal the tie. Manush then beat longtime doubles partner Manav Thakkar, while Hursey completed the record-breaking 13-2 win. U Mumba made a flying start as Lilian Bardet swept aside Ricardo Walther in straight games before Anusha Kutumbale produced one of her best displays of the season, blanking two-time UTT MVP Yangzi Liu to register her first match victory of the campaign.
The defending champions then all but wrapped up the contest as Manush Shah and Anna Hursey extended their outstanding mixed doubles run with another dominant straight-games win, giving U Mumba an unassailable 9-0 lead. Manush then carried the momentum into the Men’s Singles, winning the opening two games against his longtime doubles partner and close friend Manav Thakkar. The wins extended U Mumba’s record streak to 11 consecutive game wins before Thakkar halted the run by edging the third game on Golden Point. Anna Hursey capped off the dominant display with a three-game victory over Sayali Wani, sealing a 13-2 win that set new UTT records for the biggest winning margin and the longest winning streak of games in the competition’s five-match format. In the day’s opening tie, Ahmedabad made the stronger start as Adrien Rassenfosse inflicted Snehit Suravajjula’s first singles loss of the season before Sofia Polcanova edged past Diya Chitale in their maiden meeting, winning the final two games on Golden Point. Payas Jain and Polcanova then rallied from a game down to clinch the mixed doubles and put the Pipers in command.
