Fresh Ram Temple Row: Nirmohi Akhara Moves Supreme Court Seeking Restructuring Of Trust Published By, Last Updated: July 18, 2026, 21:31 IST The petition has also sought directions from the SC to ensure that all rituals at the Ram temple are conducted in accordance with the traditions of the Ramanandi Sampradaya. Rapid Read This comes amid a probe into Ram Temple donations fund theft. The Nirmohi Akhara has moved the Supreme Court seeking fresh directions for what it termed the “proper implementation" of the Constitution Bench’s Ayodhya verdict delivered on November 9, 2019. In a miscellaneous application filed in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case, the Akhara has alleged that key aspects of the judgment, particularly those concerning its role in the management of the Ram Temple, have not been adequately implemented. ‘Ayodhya Verdict Not Fully Implemented’ The petition, filed through Shri Panch Ramanandi Nirmohi Akhara’s Sarpanch, Mahant Raja Ramchandracharya Ateet Guru Mahant Raghunath Dasji Maharaj, contends that although the Centre constituted the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust following the apex court’s directions, the body failed to provide the Akhara with the “appropriate role" and “appropriate representation" envisioned in the ruling, ANI reported.
Referring to specific portions of the 2019 judgment, the Akhara argued that the Supreme Court had acknowledged its historical association with the disputed site and had directed that it be suitably represented in the trust. However, the plea claims that these directions remain unfulfilled several years later. The application further alleges that the trust is effectively operating as a “private trust" without sufficient oversight and accountability. It has sought the trust’s reconstitution as a public body with greater transparency and institutional safeguards. Akhara Demands Restoration Of Original Deities Questioning the existing representation mechanism, the Akhara said that the nomination of a single member by the Centre cannot be regarded as adequate representation, as its traditional Panchayati system requires representatives to be selected collectively. The plea also seeks recognition of the Akhara’s historical role in overseeing religious rituals, including puja, bhog and sewa, in accordance with the Ramanandi tradition historically followed by the Nirmohi Akhara. Additionally, the application cites recent allegations concerning the handling of donations and valuables at the Ram Temple to underscore the need for stronger safeguards.
