(Source: X/ Japanese PM's Office) The Uttar Pradesh government is set to host, over five days, one of the largest Japanese business delegations next month, with over 200 CEOs from Japan and Yamanashi Prefecture scheduled to visit the beginning on August 19. Officials said the five-day visit is aimed at exploring investment opportunities and strengthening cooperation across key sectors, including manufacturing, green hydrogen, renewable energy and tourism. The proposed visit follows recent engagements between Uttar Pradesh and Japan, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to the country.
Authorities said the upcoming tour is expected to build on those discussions and translate them into concrete partnerships. Preparations And Official Meetings Preparations for the visit were reviewed during a meeting at the Invest UP office in Lucknow, where a 12-member delegation from Yamanashi Prefecture held discussions with state officials. The delegation was led by Narendra Upadhyay, advisor to the Yamanashi government. The meeting was chaired by Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Deepak Kumar, with senior Invest UP officials also present. Officials said the interaction focused on planning the itinerary, identifying priority sectors and facilitating engagement between Japanese companies and stakeholders in Uttar Pradesh. Focus Sectors And Investment Plans During the visit, the Japanese delegation is expected to hold meetings with government officials, industry representatives and other stakeholders. Business-to-business (B2B) interactions are also planned as part of the schedule. Key sectors identified for collaboration include manufacturing, automobiles, food processing, renewable energy, green hydrogen, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), skill development and human resource exchange.
Officials indicated that agreements such as Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Letters of Comfort (LoCs) could be signed during the visit. Land allotment for proposed projects is also expected to be discussed. Tourism And Cultural Cooperation The visiting delegation also met Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh to discuss expanding cooperation in tourism and cultural exchange. Officials said discussions covered investment opportunities in tourism infrastructure, connectivity, hospitality and wellness tourism, along with efforts to strengthen cultural ties between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi. The visit is being positioned as part of broader efforts to deepen economic, technological and cultural engagement between the state and Japan.
