Three Nepali nationals have been arrested in Karnataka for allegedly being involved in a series of house burglaries, police said on Saturday. Gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 10 lakh were recovered from the accused, officials said. Police said the three men are also suspected to have been involved in more than 15 house burglaries in Bengaluru, Davanagere, Udupi and other parts of Karnataka. They are also collecting information on cases allegedly registered against them in Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Haryana.
Read Full Story The latest burglary took place at a house near Urwa Market in Mangaluru after the occupants locked the residence and left to visit relatives in Kadambu village in Bantwal taluk on July 11. When they returned the next morning, they found the rear door broken open and gold ornaments weighing about 64 grams, cash of Rs 25,000 and other valuables worth Rs 8.57 lakh missing. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and an investigation was launched, a senior police officer said.
The accused were arrested during an early morning operation at Bolur on July 17, police said. After interrogation, officers recovered all the stolen gold ornaments linked to the Mangaluru case. They also seized 790 grams of silver ornaments allegedly stolen in a burglary in Nashik, Maharashtra, taking the total value of the recovered property to about Rs 10 lakh. The arrested men were identified as Tilak Kumar Khadka alias Tilak Khadka, 36, Ashok Raj alias Ashok Singh alias Ashok Singh Thakuri, 33, and Dipender Rasaili, 25, all natives of Nepal.
Investigators said the trio allegedly confessed to their involvement in an attempted house break-in reported in Urwa in March this year. Police said that further investigation is underway to ascertain their alleged involvement in other burglary cases. Ends
