The opposition party in Maharashtra has welcomed the Bombay High Court's decision to cancel the bail of a corporator from the ruling alliance. An opposition legislator called for the strictest punishment, questioning the rule of law under the current government. The legislator contrasted the corporator's initial bail with the police action faced by a climate activist protesting peacefully for education and youth.
The High Court took independent cognisance of the matter, cancelling the bail and ordering the corporator to surrender by the following evening. In response to these developments, the opposition party is planning a protest march in Mumbai to support the climate activist and ongoing NEET protests.
