According to an official statement released by the doctor, Wangchuk’s pulse, blood pressure and oxygen saturation are currently within normal limits. However, his prolonged fasting has led to clinical signs of dehydration. The doctor warned that immediate medical intervention is required to prevent further deterioration and potentially serious complications. An independent expert from AIIMS, New Delhi, examined Wangchuk and agreed with the treating team’s assessment that intravenous fluids and electrolyte therapy are medically necessary. The AIIMS doctor has also joined the treating team and will continue to monitor his condition, as per the official statement.

Doctors have recommended oral/intravenous fluids and electrolyte therapy. According to the hospital, Wangchuk has refused intravenous fluids, oral rehydration solution and all medications, despite repeated counselling. The hospital said Wangchuk’s family has not yet given consent for the recommended treatment. He remains under close medical observation, and doctors are continuing efforts to persuade him and his family to accept medical treatment to avoid complications. Personal Doctor Raises Concerns Earlier in the day, Wangchuk’s personal doctor, Dr Nitin Dighe, also disputed parts of the hospital’s findings. Dr Dighe claimed Wangchuk’s potassium levels were normal when blood samples were collected on Friday afternoon and said he intended to conduct an independent blood test.
