The doctor assault case in Maharashtra took a dramatic turn after the Indian Medical Association (IMA) warned of a statewide 24-hour hospital shutdown to protest violence against healthcare workers. Soon after the medical body's announcement, a court cancelled the bail granted to Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre, who is accused of assaulting doctors and nursing staff at a civic-run hospital in Dombivli.
