BJP MLC D.S. Arun has alleged irregularities in the digital evaluation of answer scripts for degree courses at Kuvempu University. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Arun said that, barring Visvesvaraya Technological University, no other university in the State had adopted the digital evaluation process. “I gave a letter to the university seeking information on who gave approval to shift to digital evaluation.
Even a month after submitting the letter, I have not received a response,” he alleged. Under the earlier, conventional mode of evaluation, the cost per answer script was around ₹22. Under digital evaluation, however, scanning of papers alone would cost more than ₹50 per paper. “The university is already facing financial difficulties.
There are insufficient funds to settle the payments of retired employees,” he said. The MLC alleged that, under the current system, an evaluator could log in from anywhere and at any time to evaluate answer scripts. “Someone sitting in a bar can log in and carry out evaluation.
There is no system in place to address issues related to evaluation. The university has not yet issued marks card for the 2024-25 academic year,” he alleged.
