(IMAGE: PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government has reported high levels of power supply in recent days, saying it has been able to meet peak electricity demand across the state even as consumption has risen during summer and the monsoon. According to official data, the state met a peak demand of 30,457 MW on July 14. In the days before that, demand stood at 29,827 MW on July 13, 30,598 MW on July 12, 29,041 MW on July 11, and 26,571 MW on July 10. The government said these figures were among the highest recorded across states during this period.
Officials said the focus has been on maintaining a steady supply despite seasonal pressure on the system. Demand typically rises during heatwaves and continues to stay high during the monsoon due to humidity and agricultural needs. Focus On Supply, Rural Access The government said electricity supply in rural areas has improved, with villages receiving more than the scheduled 18 hours of power each day. It added that arrangements are also in place to maintain supply in cities, tehsil headquarters and industrial zones. Efforts are also being made to address outages quickly, especially during storms and heavy rainfall. Local faults caused by weather conditions are being attended to with instructions for fast restoration. Monitoring And Maintenance Work Teams from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) are monitoring the network round the clock, according to the government. Officials at the district level are carrying out field inspections to track faults and ensure supply remains stable.
Maintenance work has been stepped up ahead of the monsoon. This includes pruning tree branches near power lines to prevent damage during strong winds and rain. Teams are also working on routine upkeep to reduce the risk of disruptions. Public Advisory And Official Statement Residents have been advised to stay away from snapped wires, electric poles and waterlogged areas during the rainy season. They have also been asked to report any faults or hazards to the 1912 helpline or the nearest electricity office. Ashish Kumar Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) and Chairman of UPPCL, said, “Electricity supply is being continuously monitored. Instructions have been issued at every level to ensure vigilance so that uninterrupted power supply reaches every consumer."
