Following an India Today investigation, the Union Government has ordered a probe into fake B.Ed colleges in Madhya Pradesh. These colleges, affiliated with Barkatullah University, existed only on paper, with approvals granted despite missing buildings and classrooms. On the ground, buffaloes were found grazing in the fields where the colleges were supposed to stand.
The Centre has directed the teachers' body to submit a status report. An investigation team has arrived in Bhopal to conduct on-ground verification and geo-tagging. The probe will examine potential negligence by the Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department and officials who reportedly granted approvals based on affidavits and note sheets.
