The State Backward Classes Commission observed that there is a need to appoint staff to the Commission on a permanent basis to enable it to function more effectively, with personnel possessing comprehensive knowledge of its procedures, systems, and the various castes.
In this regard, the Commission will submit its proposals to the government. The Commission, under the chairmanship of G. Niranjan, held a meeting at its office on Saturday. The meeting was attended by the Commission members and Member Secretary B.
Bala Maya Devi. The Commission also discussed the report submitted by the Pollution Control Board (PCB) regarding a complaint alleging violations of reservation norms in the Board. Further, it
held a detailed discussion on the recent inquiry concerning the enhancement of the age limit for identifying ‘Orphans’ and the issue relating to the removal of the term ‘Satani’.
