(AFP photo) Amid heightened tensions in West Asia, with Washington and Tehran returning to full-blown war, the US Embassy in Jerusalem has issued a security alert, urging residents in the region to exercise caution while travelling. The US has advised its citizens to reconsider travel to West Asia. In the advisory, it asked its nationals to avoid travelling to northern Israel, Gaza and areas along the Egyptian border amid the ongoing conflict.
“The security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation," the US Embassy said. It further urged Americans in the region to exercise caution, monitor developments and check with airlines before travelling. Follow for live updates West Asia Crisis Deepens This comes as tensions in West Asia deepened on Saturday as the US carried out a seventh consecutive night of strikes on Iran, with Tehran warning of a “full-scale offensive" and the vital Strait of Hormuz staying virtually closed. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X that it “hit surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage and maritime capabilities" as American forces concluded strikes on Iran for the seventh consecutive night. In response to US strikes, Iran’s military said it had targeted American military installations in Kuwait and Jordan, including the Al-Adiri camp and Ali Al-Salem base in Kuwait, as well as fuel tanks at Jordan’s Al-Azraq base.
