Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was splattered with ink on Saturday while addressing supporters at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. The incident triggered chaos at the protest site, just hours after activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to hospital following a 21-day hunger strike. A video shared by Dipke on social media showed him speaking to a gathering when a woman standing to his right suddenly threw blue ink at him. The ink also splashed onto the T-shirts of a few people standing nearby. Read Full Story The incident sparked a brief commotion as Dipke stepped back while gesturing towards the woman, who appeared to continue trying to throw ink at him. Supporters quickly intervened, separating the two. Some held the woman's hand, which was still holding the ink container, while others pulled her away from the stage before she was escorted out by the crowd. Sharing the video on X, Dipke wrote, "Blue is my colour...
Jai Bhim!" The identity of the woman and her motive were not immediately known. Delhi Police said she has been detained and that further investigation is underway. The ink attack came amid heightened tensions at Jantar Mantar, where protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination have continued for the past three weeks. Earlier on Saturday, activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted from the protest site to Safdarjung Hospital after his health deteriorated on the 21st day of his indefinite hunger strike. Delhi Police said the move was carried out on medical advice and in compliance with directions issued by the Delhi High Court. According to Safdarjung Hospital, the 59-year-old Wangchuk was admitted at 7.40 am after being brought in by Delhi Police. He was admitted with a history of fasting from solid food for 20 days and complained of generalised weakness. At the time of admission, he was conscious and his pulse, blood pressure and oxygen saturation were stable, though doctors noted signs of dehydration.
Blood tests showed compensated acidosis, low serum potassium and a blood sugar level of 78 mg/dL. The hospital also said Wangchuk has refused intravenous fluids, oral rehydration solution and all medication despite medical advice. He is being continuously monitored and counselled in the interest of his health. The police said some protesters briefly tried to obstruct the operation to get Wangchuk to the hospital but officers exercised restraint and completed the hospital transfer. They also appealed to protesters to end the agitation and vacate the site peacefully. Abhijeet Dipke, however, alleged that police used force during the operation. In posts on X, he claimed he was beaten and briefly detained by Delhi Police after going to a friend's house to freshen up. He also accused the police of cracking down on peaceful protesters and called for nationwide demonstrations against the action. Soon after Wangchuk was taken to hospital, Dipke announced that he was beginning an indefinite hunger strike in solidarity with the protest.
