In a lengthy post, the user said he had spent seven years in Canada, worked his way through the immigration system and eventually obtained permanent residency, only to conclude that the move had not been worthwhile. “Moving to Canada was the absolute worst mistake of my life. I’ve spent the last 7 years of my life in Canada. Seven years. I did everything “right"—I worked hard, navigated the brutal immigration system, and finally got my Permanent Residency (PR).
But looking back, I realize I’ve just wasted seven of the best years of my life. In the end, that plastic PR card is just not worth it," he wrote. The Redditor went on to criticise several aspects of life in Canada, including the rising cost of living, the job market, healthcare and the country’s climate. “It is insanely expensive: The cost of living is out of control. Rent takes up almost your entire paycheck, groceries are a luxury, and you’re basically just surviving, not living. You are trapped in a cycle of working just to pay bills," he wrote. NRI Plans To Move Back To India He also expressed frustration over employment prospects, saying, “The job market is a joke: Finding a decent professional job is incredibly hard. They always demand “Canadian experience," which is just a polite way of discounting all your hard work back home. So many highly educated immigrants end up stuck in survival jobs."
