Following the removal of Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar, Delhi's new Police Commissioner Avinash Kumar has convened a high-level meeting to address the current law and order situation. The meeting, attended by officers of the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and above, including Joint Commissioners and Special Commissioners, focuses on tackling ongoing protests against Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. With the Parliament session scheduled to begin on July 20, authorities are strategising heavy security deployments, especially in light of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) planned march to the Parliament.
The police are also deliberating on how to handle protesting students from left-leaning organisations like AISA and SFI without using force, as mandated by court decisions. Furthermore, the meeting will address security preparations for August 15 and the potential influx of farmer leaders supporting the CJP. The future of the unauthorised CJP protest at Jantar Mantar is expected to be decided during these discussions, as protesters have not sought official permission for their agitation or the upcoming march.
