Angmo, on Saturday alleged that he was shifted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital from Jantar Mantar without informing either him or his family, even as he entered the 21st day of his hunger strike. Follow LIVE Updates Here Speaking to reporters, Angmo claimed that doctors had examined Wangchuk on Friday evening and found his vital parameters to be normal. She questioned the hospital’s claim that his potassium levels had dropped to a life-threatening level, saying the family had sought the medical reports but had not received them. “Sonam Wangchuk was brought here from the Jantar Mantar site without informing him or without informing me. Just yesterday evening, doctors from Safdarjung Hospital had checked him, and all his vitals were normal.
But now they’re telling us his potassium has dropped, and it’s life-threatening. But when we asked to see the report, they are not giving it to us," she said. Angmo also maintained that the Delhi High Court had not ordered Wangchuk’s hospitalisation. According to her, the court had only directed that his health be monitored regularly. She said no treatment was currently being administered and that doctors were only conducting observations and medical tests. The family, she added, planned to repeat the tests at an external laboratory as the requested reports had not been shared. “No treatment is underway right now. Only observation and tests are being conducted, and we are actually going to get the tests done at an external lab," she said. Questioning the reported potassium level of 2.9, Angmo said it was 4.3 a day earlier and wanted the results verified before any medication was administered. She added that Wangchuk’s fast was continuing, saying he was consuming only water with salt and no sugar. “I am grateful that the government cared enough to bring him here, but we will handle the next steps ourselves; there is no need for government interference in this matter," she said, adding that despite weakness and muscle loss from the prolonged fast, Wangchuk remained alert and mentally strong.
