A 44-year-old man was allegedly run over multiple times by an SUV and killed in Delhi’s Rohini district. After the incident, the police arrested the driver on murder charges. The incident took place on July 16 in the Kanjhawala police station area. The victim, identified as Deepak, a resident of Majra Dabas, had left his home on a scooter when the SUV allegedly rammed into his vehicle, according to police sources.
Investigators said that after Deepak fell onto the road, the driver allegedly accelerated the SUV instead of stopping and ran over him. The accused is further alleged to have reversed the vehicle and driven over the victim multiple times. Deepak died on the spot. As per the sources, the impact caused the scooter to become lodged underneath the SUV, due to which both the vehicle and the victim were dragged on the road for several metres. After the scooter detached, the driver allegedly ran over Deepak repeatedly before fleeing. Delhi Police have seized the SUV and arrested the accused, identified as Sagar. According to sources, Sagar has confessed to the killing during questioning but has given varying accounts of the motive behind the crime.
